Why Does The Paint Peel Off After Using Cement Pole Molds?

Cement pole molds are mechanical devices used in the production of cement poles. Pole equipment and molds are crucial components in the production of reinforced concrete precast utility poles. During use, it's important to clean and maintain the molds regularly to extend their lifespan. Prolonged use or improper maintenance can lead to paint peeling from the molds, primarily due to the following reasons:

1. The steel formwork for utility poles consists of three parts: the main structure, the running wheels, and the bolts. A qualified formwork must meet the following standards: sufficient main structure strength, sufficient running wheel hardness, and high tensile strength of the bolts.

2. Anti-corrosion paint for cement pole formwork can be made from various raw materials, including acrylic paint, polyester paint, and metallic paint. Acrylic paint is commonly used, but even when the initial application is satisfactory, it is not ideal under prolonged high-temperature steam conditions and requires repainting after a short period. In such cases, the formwork must be kept clean before repainting. Another option is to use a more expensive silicone heat-resistant anti-corrosion paint.

3. Acrylic paint still exhibits high peeling rates under prolonged high temperature and humidity conditions. Therefore, choosing a silicone heat-resistant anti-corrosion paint can effectively improve this situation, but the spraying cost is higher.

4. Before painting the steel formwork, it needs to be sanded and rust-removed. After rust removal, painting should proceed, strictly following the standards for metallic paint surface treatment. Rust removal ensures better adhesion of the sprayed paint and reduces peeling. Regardless of the type of paint chosen, rust removal is essential. Severe peeling of many acrylic paints is caused by this issue. Additionally, a primer and topcoat are required during spraying. The primer has stronger adhesion than the topcoat, so applying a primer is a necessary and unavoidable step. Applying the topcoat afterward is even better.

Furthermore, during the use of the sprayed cement pole molds, the surface concrete slurry must be cleaned regularly. Removing the slurry keeps the paint surface in a constantly damp concrete environment, accelerating pH interference with the paint. Only after maintaining cleanliness and completing steam curing will the paint surface have a ventilated and dry environment, extending the adhesion time of the anti-corrosion paint.
